The 80 hour course
The 80 hour course
What's covered?
Topics include buying, conditioning, preparing stock for a shop or a studio, pricing and mark ups. All wedding aspects are covered such as wiring, hand tieds, vase work and table centres. Funeral work, floral foam, ribbon, ribboning, presentation, wrapping and containers. Every aspect of flower arranging is embraced to help you find your individual style. Be it pavé or pillowing, grouping or clustering Michael ensures you finish this course with several floral pieces that have your individual floral signature, be it size, style or use of materials.
A recipe for success?
This course has a 100% success record, every person who has completed this course has achieved the goal they set out to do. It’s intended as a foundation for new florists. It cannot guarantee success, however with the marketing skills taught and practised by Michael, one is sure to be put on or directed to the right path. With flower selling getting more competitive all the time it's good to try and stay one step ahead especially in the skilled areas of wiring, wedding, party and event work.
Becoming a stylist?
Floristry is very similar to hairdressing, it's a skill that can be adapted to suit any and many fashions. New items are always being invented to help create new styles. The same scissors can create a very different look, the same too with flowers. Most people have " a hairdresser", and it's the same with a florist; different people like different stylists, so why not be "their florist"? Michael's aim is to show you how to create and listen to what people want or think they want and execute it.
In Situ?
The students on this course will be shown how to make both modern and classic designs. A good florist should be adaptable and listen to their client needs or at least provide the correct items for their market. Learning to use techniques that were practised years ago is a great foundation for creating some of today's more modern designs that require good workmanship. Glue and spray paint take a back seat on this course but are encouraged where time and cost are key elements.

Time frame and location
This course can be offered on a time frame to suit you, as he understands to take a month from your schedule is sometimes impossible. He can also offer this course to you in your own home*, studio or workplace as taking designs home can be troublesome, especially in London or other large cities.
All flowers are included in the price and each student receives a detailed notebook along with a pair of florist scissors. Time is allowed to take good photographs of your work, thus enabling you to use your own work for your web site, graphics or point of sale material.
